Food trucks now have a home for themselves. A lot of wandering food trucks joined along with brick & mortar Monstah Lobstah for establishing "Food Truck Square" @ 1901 W Platt St., where a lot of trucks will be converging for offering dinner and lunch delicacies for all seven days in the week.
Square opened on Monday officially and grand opening will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 23. The organizers will be expecting big crowd along with trucks which are locally well known including Burger Culture, Wicked Wiches, Tasty Stacy, Mr. Empanada, and Killer Samich for turning out at this big event.

Ford F-150 picked up doppelganger at China recently. News coming in from China says that Jianghuai Auto Corporation just unveiled their new 4R3 pick up and surely this automobile looks like it is the photo copy of best-selling truck of America. JAC wants to give the buyers in Africa China, & South America inexpensive and larger working automobiles. Appearances of Ford F-Series and the 4R3 visuals differing slightly but similarities out weigh the incongruities by far. News from China says that JAC is a small auto maker in People's Republic which specializes in the Hyundai rebodied cars, pickups, and SUVs.

Tonnage of US truck rose 6.8 percent in the month December after growing modest 0.3 percent in the month of November, according to American Trucking Associations.
In the year 2011, the tonnage increased 5.9 percent over previous year which is the biggest annual increase since the year 1998. The tonnage for last month of 2011 was 10.5 percent more than that of December 2010, this is the biggest year-over-year increase since of July 1998. The tonnage for November was up by 6.1% percent over same month in the last year.
Bob Costello, the ATA chief economist said that he isn’t surprised that the tonnage increased in the month of December and he is surprised at magnitude of this gain. Costello knew that this was biggest largest month-to-month rise ever since January 2005.

Southwest is really massive and it is also known as the biggest available market for pickup trucks. Hence it isn’t really a surprise that the manufacturer sent us the 2nd biggest Laramie Longhorn for testing in our offices. This is a crew cab truck (with huge volume on the interior) Heavy Duty 3500 dually (widest) with longest bed (eight feet long) and it is the 4 wheel drive version which is the tallest. Only way that you can get bigger truck is to go for Mega Cab. However, it isn’t the immense size of the truck that makes this Ram pretty unique it is the cowboy like design that it has. Laramie Longhorn is new level of topline trim for Ram 3500, 2500, and 1500 trucks and it gives the Ford King Ranch good competition.

2011 numbers are out and they say that Chrysler, General Motors, and Ford have again sold more pick up trucks as compared to other models. Ford F-Series was top selling automobile in November of the last year having sold around 516,639 units from dealers. This one is followed by Chevrolet Silverado in the second place with sales of 367,343 units. Ford Fusion and Ford Escape were in fourth and third places respectively. Ram Trucks were on the fifth spot with about 218,750 units sold.
That said, the GM had taken five spots on this list and Ford had four. Chrylser just managed to go in the top ten with the offerings of Ram. 4 full size truck plants of General Motors, 3 of which are in US will be going intermittently silent for 21 weeks for retooling the production for 2013. Flint, Michigan and Fort Wayne, Indiana plants came in to news lately when they received multi-million investments for this.
Fort Wayne will be shutting down for 9 weeks from January 2012 to October 2012. On the other hand, Flint will be stopping production for 7 weeks from the month of June to November. Also, Arlington, Texas plant will be shutting down from the month of June to December for 5 weeks. Mexican plant in Silao will be finding out their schedule of shut-down by next year. General Motors has stock piled ninety days supply of their Sierra and Silverado pick ups for making up for any production loss.

Ram Outdoorsman will soon get a very prominent role in new adventure series that is recorded for NBC Sports Network by Orion Entertainment. The name of the show is Ram Outdoorsman and it will be traveling around the country for sampling different fishing and hunting venues. Ram will obviously benefit from this partnership and the show will be introducing Outdoorsman to a lot of potential buyers who might or might not have heard about this truck in past.
We will need to wonder if this is just entertainment or a 1 long vehicle for placement of product. That has not stopped the series of Transformers from becoming a sensation at box office.
